Center for Housing Opportunity

Home matters. Data tells us that a safe and stable home provides access to opportunity and serves as the foundation for health and well-being, educational achievement, financial security and economic mobility.

At the Center for Housing Opportunity (CHO) we believe that equitable access to housing opportunity is the key to a thriving community and a healthy, regional economy. This is why we bring together partners from across sectors and regions to reimagine communities, and to produce and preserve housing for people of all incomes, ages, and backgrounds.

CHO began with the Fairfield County Center for Housing Opportunity, a strategic partnership between Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, Partnership for Strong Communities, Regional Plan Association, and The Housing Collective (known at the time as Supportive Housing Works).

In 2022, CHO launched the Litchfield County Center for Housing Opportunity; in 2023, CHO created the Center for Housing Equity and Opportunity Eastern CT, operating within New London, Tolland, and Windham Counties.

Each Center operates as a place-based strategic partnership that offers housing practice, policy, advocacy, and resources to address regional housing affordability. Learn more about our regional centers, and contact us to collaborate or support our work.
