Be My Neighbor in Fairfield County

The Center for Housing Opportunity partnered with Regional Plan Association to conduct an analysis on the potential for creating accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and single-family conversions in Fairfield County. The report, Be My Neighbor in Fairfield County, comes on the heels of an important zoning reform bill (HB6107) which permits ADUs as-of-right in single-family zones across the state.

The report examines how Fairfield County can create thousands of new homes in the region by facilitating ADUs and conversions of large single-family homes to two-family homes. With ADUs and conversions into duplexes, communities in Fairfield County can help alleviate cost burdens and begin creating more housing diversity, which is necessary for communities to thrive economically and socially.
